Story

Founded in 2023, the Sarkisian Foundation was established to support students and universities committed to higher education in the arts and engineering.  Based on passion for the subject and financial need, yearly scholarship support is provided with the potential that support could occur over multiple years in the education process if students demonstrate their continued interest, need, and excellent grades.  The Foundation also seeks to support students and universities that are interested in residencies and research for study.  Special consideration will be given to students who are interested in combining studies in both the arts and engineering.

The Foundation supports students entering college as well as those specifically pursuing advanced studies beyond a bachelor’s degree through master’s and doctorate programs.  The support will help students achieve their ambitions that otherwise might not be possible because of financial challenges.  The goal is to help reduce, if not eliminate, burdensome student loans.  Students selected for scholarships are passionate about making a difference in their fields of study through a creative and meaningful approach to the work.

The Sarkisian Family has been educated in the arts and, therefore are motivated to continue to support higher education in the arts. Mark is a practicing structural engineer who brings a unique approach to the work combining the visual arts and engineering. Cathy is an educator, artist, and musician involved with community arts non-profit activities. Alexandra is a video artist who participates in several non-profit organizations in the United Kingdom.  Ellen is an educator who works for a public school district that is committed to developing innovative curricula that encourages creative learning in high schools where student dropout rates have traditionally been high.  Victoria is a graphic designer and an adjunct professor of art and design.
